Jimmie B. Welch, a beloved husband, father, and community member, entered his heavenly home on Friday, August 1, 2025, at his residence in Jackson, Tennessee, surrounded by his loving wife and family at the age of 86. Born on October 31, 1938, in Memphis, Tennessee, Jimmie lived a life marked by humility, generosity, and a deep commitment to serving others.
After earning his education at David Lipscomb High School in Nashville, TN where he excelled in football, baseball and basketball. Jimmie would Join the United States Marine Corp before continuing his education at David Lipscomb University, where he reconnected with Linda and married her in 1963. He and Linda moved to Jackson in 1976 where he ran a Pepperidge Farm route for many years before retiring from Frito Lay. His professional life was underscored by a steadfast work ethic, but it was his dedication to service that truly defined him. As an elder at Skyline Church of Christ, Jimmie exemplified his faith through action, volunteering tirelessly in numerous community activities including Meal on Wheels, the Soup Kitchen, and Room in the Inn among others.
A devoted family man, his proudest accomplishments were indeed his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Brewer Welch, and their children: Mike Welch and his wife Corene of Oakfield, TN; Bill Welch and his wife Elaine of Jackson, TN; Joe Welch and his wife Megan of Jackson, TN; and daughter Cherin Waits of Jackson, TN. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren, Jacob Welch, William Welch, Nathan Welch, Easton Welch, Bret Waits, Shelby Waits, Alexandra Welch and Ross Welch and five great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Carolyn Hladky of Memphis, TN. Jimmie's legacy is one of love, kindness, and unwavering support for his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther M. and Mary Lou Van Dyke Welch, and his brother-in-law, Roger Hladky.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the visitation on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, August 5, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM, both to be held at Skyline Church of Christ, located at 1024 Skyline Dr, Jackson, TN, 38301. A family committal service will be held following at Highland Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers for the service will be Mike Welch, Bill Welch, Joe Welch, William Welch, Jacob Welch and Nathan Welch.
