Jessalyn K. Todd died peacefully on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 83.
She was born on May 9, 1939, in Jackson, TN the daughter of the late Jessie Stephen and Theresa Kelly Brown. In 1959 she married the love of her life, Robert Marion Todd who preceded her in death in 2019. Jessalyn was raised in the Bemis Community, where she attended J.B. Young High School and was in the first graduating class of Southside High School in 1957. She and her late husband Robert loved to travel in their RV camper and had traveled to every state except for Alaska. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her passion in life. She was formerly employed with J.C. Penney in retail sales for over twenty years before her retirement.
Jessalyn is survived by her children, Kelly Collins and husband Don of Mt. Juliet, TN, Dawn Taylor and husband Wendell of Beech Bluff, TN and Stephen Todd and wife Jane of Adamsville, TN; seven grandchildren, Matt Collins (Macy), Jonathan Collins (Shelby), Hannah Fish (Nathan), Ethan Taylor (Kayla), Katie Williams, Robert “Bubba” Crowe (Jessie) and Sarah Bean (Spencer) and fourteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her great-granddaughter Hattie Jo Collins in March 2020.
SERVICES: A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at Rose Hill Cemetery in Humboldt, TN with Matt Collins her grandson officiating.
Her grandsons and grandson-in-laws will serve as pallbearers.
The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Arrington Funeral Directors prior to the service.
The family is requesting that memorial contributions be directed to the Hattie Jo Collins Nursing Scholarship, c/o Tennessee Tech University, 1 William L. Jones Dr. Cookeville, TN 38505 or online at www.tntech.edu .
The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to the caregivers for the love and compassion shown Mrs. Todd.
