After a brief illness, Jerry Lester Key Sr. 79 of Jackson, TN passed away peacefully Monday, July 10, 2023, surrounded by his family. Jerry was born in Marianna, AR and married his high school sweetheart Mary Anne Brooks who sadly preceded him in death in 1999. He found love again and married Carol Haskins in 2006. Regrettably, Carol passed away in 2022. In addition to being a devoted father and husband, he was a successful businessman and a mentor to many. His strong will and perseverance led to his founding of Key Fire Protection, Inc., a successful fire sprinkler contractor. Jerry served six years in the National Guard and was a Mason. He was an avid hunter and boater and lived his life to the absolute fullest. Jerry is survived by his three sons Jerry Key Jr. (Machelle), Jimmy Key (Bridgett) and Jonathan Key (Aimee), six grandchildren Brittany Key (Dirk Witt), Kayla Key, PhD (Casey Emison), Whitney Key Butler (Redmon Butler), Craig Key (Becka), Zachary Key and Maryanne Key as well as two great grandchildren, Parker Wade Emison and Marianna Rose Butler. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Fred Key and Gertrude Little Key as well as his siblings, Ruby Lee Key Johnson, J.C. Key, Charles Key, Horace Key, Juanita Bailey, Frances McGee, Pearlie Huey, Howard Key, Sue Maynard, and Barbara Bishop. A graveside service will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, July 14, 2023 at Browns Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors before the graveside service.
