Jeffrey "Jeff" Gilbert Frieling, a cherished husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2026, in Medina, Tennessee at Medina Health and Rehab. He was born on March 28, 1957, in North Tonawanda, New York, the son of the late Gilbert Herman and Marilyn Mae Schimschack Frieling. Jeff's life was a testament to his friendly nature, interesting character, and passionate spirit.

Jeff was the beloved husband of Ellen Ching Frieling and the proud father of Josh and Katie Frieling. He was a brother who shared a deep bond with Cary and his wife Cheryl, Keith and his wife Pam, and Scott and his wife Debby. His family was the cornerstone of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

After attending Erie Community College, Jeff pursued further education at the University of South Alabama, where he earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees. His commitment to lifelong learning led him to obtain a certification in hospital administration in Birmingham, Alabama. This educational foundation paved the way for an impressive career in healthcare.

Jeff dedicated thirty-one years of service to West Tennessee Healthcare, beginning his career with the organization in 1989, and served in many varied roles in his time there, including Administrative Director of Radiation Oncology, Director of West Tennessee Cancer Center, Administrator of Humboldt General Hospital, Director of Enterprise Applications and eventually Chief Information Officer. Jeff retired in 2019.

Jeff Frieling was instrumental in growing cancer services and leading the organization into a new era of technological advancements. His passion for his work was evident in his commitment to excellence and the relationships he built with colleagues and associates. Jeff's work was more than a job; it was a calling that he fulfilled with integrity and dedication.

A devout Christian, Jeff lived his faith through his actions and interactions with those around him. As a communicate of St. Mary's Catholic Church, his kindness and compassion were the hallmarks of his character, and he left an indelible mark on the community he served.

Jeff enjoyed golfing, where he found joy in the challenges and tranquility of the game. He was also a dedicated fan of basketball and football, reveling in the thrill of competition and the camaraderie of fellow enthusiasts. His love for history was reflected in his extensive reading, which allowed him to explore the depths of the past and its lessons for the present.

SERVICES: A visitation with the family will be held on Monday, February 2, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Following the service Jeff will be placed to rest in the church columbarium.

Jeff's life was a vibrant tapestry woven with the threads of his interests, work, and most importantly, the people he loved. His friendly demeanor made him a joy to be around, his interesting conversations were a source of enlightenment, and his passion was an inspiration to all who knew him.
