Jeanie Suggs, a beloved child of God, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the age of 85 at Huntingdon Health and Rehab.
Jeanie was born on February 21, 1940, in Jackson, TN, the daughter of the late Garland Alexander and Amanda Elizabeth Holloway Hurt.
Jeanie had a vibrant independent spirit and a determination to live life in her own way. In her later years she gave her life to Christ and lived her life for Jesus.
Jeanie and her late husband Thomas Suggs operated a lawn care business in Florida for over thirty years, where they built a reputation for excellence and reliability.
Jeanie's work ethic and dedication were mirrored in her many interests outside of her profession. Jeanie was self-taught seamstress and found joy in creating Ragdolls of diverse types. She loved to read and immersed herself in the pages of books. She instilled her love of reading in each of her children at a young age.
Our mother loved to cook and was self-taught. She could excel at most anything she set her mind to do. She shared her love of cooking with all of her children.
Jeanie is survived by her son, Darrell Wallace; son Greg Wallace and his wife Norma; son Thomas Wallace and his wife Kim; daughter Belinda Coleman and her husband Teddy; stepdaughter Shelley Ragland and her husband John; sister-in-law Ruth Hurt; sister Mary Jackson; as well as eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Garland Alexander and Amanda Elizabeth Holloway Hurt; her husband, Joseph Thomas Suggs; her son, Michael Wallace; and her siblings, Billy Hurt, Odell Hurt and his wife Louise, Thomas Hurt, and Alma Lomax, Sammy Lou Rose (Burns) along with brother-in-law Harold Jackson.
A memorial gathering in her honor with family and friends will take place at Arrington Funeral Directors on Friday, November 14, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m.
The family is requesting that memorial contributions be directed to Tunnel to Towers Foundation online at t2t.org.
Through these gatherings, family and friends will have the opportunity to celebrate Jeanie's life and the legacy of love and joy she leaves behind.
