Graveside services for Janette Gentry, 90, will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Brownsville Memorial Gardens with Rev. Will Chenault officiating. Mrs. Gentry died Tuesday April 9, 2013 at Northbrooke Healthcare. She was born October 27, 1922 in Chipley, FL the daughter of the late William and Edna Mae Alderman. Janette was an accomplished childrens literature author and poet. She was a member of the American Pen Women Guild of Washington D.C. She is survived by a son, Sonny Gentry and wife LeAnne of Memphis, TN; a daughter, Laurie Duffey and husband Jim of Jackson, TN; five grandchildren, Thomas Mayer, Becca Shipp, Marcie Adamson, Kevin Shipp and John Harding Shipp; two great grandchildren, Lane Estrada and Andrew Shipp. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harding Gentry; two daughters, Jan Gentry Burke and Jill Gentry Shipp; a brother, Buck Alderman and a sister, Pat Boyd.
