Obituary

Jan Baker Wilson, a beacon of love and dedication, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2025, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee.

Born on Tuesday, January 13, 1959, in Birmingham, Alabama, the daughter of the late Robert E. Baker, Jr. and Gladys Riley Baker. Jan's life was a testament to her unwavering faith, her joyous spirit, and her profound impact on the lives she touched.

Jan's journey through life was marked by her devotion to family, and her commitment to education. She shared an enduring love with her husband of forty-eight years, David L. Wilson, a bond that was both a foundation and an inspiration to all who knew them. Together, they raised a family of compassion and integrity, including their sons, Jarod Wilson and his wife Michelle, Justin Wilson and his wife Sarah, and their daughters, Jillian Davis and her husband Josh, and Jaclyn Jones and her husband Xavier; ten grandchildren, Brodie Wilson, Miles Wilson, Landon Wilson, Lucas Wilson, Aiden Spivey, Evelyn Spivey, Baker Davis, Anthony Jones, Adrian Jones and Aiden Jones. Jan's heart held a special place for her sisters, Lynn Monzella and Bobbi Amick, with whom she shared countless cherished memories.

Along with her parents, Jan was preceded in death by a sister, Bobbi Amick.

Jan's professional life was characterized by her passion for helping others. As a dedicated member of the Jackson-Madison County School System, she worked tirelessly to support children with special needs, leaving an indelible mark on the community and empowering those she worked with to reach their fullest potential. Her intelligence and loving nature made her a beloved figure among her colleagues and the many families she served.

Jan's interests reflected the joy she found in life's simple pleasures. A loving grandmother, she considered them her greatest joy and devoted herself to their happiness and well-being. Her passion for reading and the arts often led her to the Orpheum in Memphis, where she delighted in the magic of musicals. An avid fan of the University of Alabama football team, Jan's spirited cry of "Roll Tide" was a familiar and cherished refrain during the football season. Additionally, her love for shopping was more than a pastime; it was a way for her to celebrate life's moments, big and small.
