James Dwain Barnes

James Dwain Barnes, 85, of Cedar Grove died peacefully on July 23, 2026, following a long illness.

Dwain was born in Lavinia, TN to the late Wortham and Lessie Mae Barnes. He graduated from North Side High School in Jackson and served two years in the United States Army. In 1967 he married Linda Doyle of Bolivar, possibly the best decision he ever made. Together they raised two sons and welcomed two grandchildren.

Dwain was a longtime member of Sunset View Church of Christ in Spring Creek. He loved the Lord, his family, and the St. Louis Cardinals. He had the best and longest memory in West Tennessee and rarely lacked for an opinion on most any topic.

He spent more than 30 years in the telephone industry with BellSouth and AT&T before establishing his own business, AllSouthern Telecommunications.

Dwain is survived by his wife, Linda; sons, Jefferson and his wife, Rebekah, and Joshua; grandsons, Jared and Tyler; brother, Wortham, and sisters Anita Davis, Elain Collins and her husband, Wesley, and Sharon Tomlinson and her husband, Mike. Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Alexander.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at Arrington Funeral Directors in Jackson, TN.  The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. with Steve Wilkinson officiating. The burial will follow at Hickory Flat Cemetery.
