James Robert Cobb, 76, of Jackson, TN sadly passed away Friday August 29, 2025, peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. James was born to Theodore and Lucy Mildred Lee Cobb on October 22, 1948. He retired from C&C Mechanical Contractors as an electrician/licensed HVAC tech.
His family and friends will remember him as a man’s man. He was the type of person who would choose to repair something over buying a new one and would help anyone fix anything. Along with fixing things, he had a love for all things cars. From building, restoring, racing or just tinkering with them. He valued hard work, honesty, and the value of a man’s word. To his girls, he was loving, patient, and kind. He made sure to instill his values in them as well as the importance to never stop learning.
James is survived by his three daughters, Misty (Danny) Pickard, Heather. (Patrick) Moody, Lori (Joel) Walker; eight grandchildren, Austin (Autumn) Vinson, Colton (Rebecca) Pickard, Taylor Walker, Hollie Cook, Bailee Walker, Olivia Pickard, Lilly Moody, and Myles Moody; three great-grandchildren, Hendrix Vinson, Paislee Vinson, and Henry Pickard; brother, Allen Cobb, two sisters, Martha Harris and Evelyn (Mike) McCoy, and a special friend, Sharron Horton. James also leaves behind a host of extended family including nieces and nephews who found him to be extremely knowledgeable, and a village of friends who considered him family. He is preceded in death by his wife Audrey Lavetra Cobb, parents Theodore Cobb, Lucy Mildred Lee Cobb, Brothers Ronald Cobb and Curtis Cobb.
A Celebration of his Eternal Life will be held Saturday, September 27, 2025, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m., and the service to follow at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors.
Immediately following, a luncheon to share his memories will be held at the Jackson Elks Lodge, 28 Executive Dr. Jackson, TN 30305.
James’ giving spirit continues even after his passing by his wonderful gift of Anatomical Donation. Through this act, students pursuing higher education will be given the opportunity to succeed.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that you check the belts on your car, the air in your tires, and all the spark plug wires - just as he would have anytime his girls would visit.
