Jack Ray Davis Sr. Age 82 of Jackson, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2025.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Eagleton and Lila Davis, brothers Buddy Davis and Tim Davis, and a nephew, Eric Davis.

Jack was born in Parsons, Tennessee. As a teenager, he worked with his father in the Davis Timber Mill on highway 412. After graduating from Parsons High School in 1960, he married his high school sweetheart, Carole Sue Kerley. He graduated from Bethel College (now Bethel University) with a business degree and began working as an insurance agent. After several years in the business, he co-founded Ryan and Davis Insurance with his longtime friend and colleague Buddy Ryan. He sold the agency at age 70, continuing to work part time as an agent until he finally retired at age 76.

Jack had a lifelong love of Tennessee, particularly the Vols and the Tennessee River. He lived his entire life in the state. He loved being around people and would strike up a conversation with anyone.

Jack knew every road in Tennessee and most of the southeastern US. He had the distinct opportunity to work on the initial construction of Interstate 40 through Tennessee.

While working as a parking attendant shortly after high school, Jack once had the opportunity to park Elvis Presley’s car. The ticket stub is still on a shelf in his living room.

Jack was a Mason, a member of St. John’s Lodge # 332, and a member of the Al Chymia Shrine Temple since 1978. He routinely participated in fundraisers for them and several other organizations that provide services to kids in need.
