Hayward Tomlin, beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, entered his heavenly home on Monday, July 6, 2026, surrounded by his loving family at his residence in Jackson, Tennessee. He was 75 years old.
Born on June 30, 1951, in Humboldt, Tennessee, Hayward's life was marked by warmth, kindness, and deep devotion to his family. Throughout his life, he honored the values instilled in him by his parents, Paul Edward Tomlin and Bettye Morgan Tomlin, both of whom preceded him in death. His brother, James Ray Tomlin, also passed on before him, leaving Hayward to carry forward the spirit of their family name with dignity and love. Hayward had many interests in his life, but one in particular was his love for racing cars. He had built and raced cars for many years with his friend Norman Gates as they were known as the Dynamic Duo in the racing world. A welder by trade, Hayward's career started with Proctor and Gamble, later ICG Railroad and he retired from Jabezco Industrial with twenty-seven years of service.
Hayward found lifelong companionship in Devona Sanders Tomlin, his devoted wife, who survives him and whose steadfast presence was a source of unwavering comfort and joy throughout their shared years. Together, they raised a son, Christopher Paul Tomlin, who continues to honor Hayward’s legacy. Hayward is also survived by his sister, Faye Pinkley, whose bond with him was cherished deeply.
To those who knew him, Hayward will be remembered not just for his family devotion but for the gentle spirit and profound kindness that touched all who had the privilege of crossing his path. The strength of his character and the warmth of his heart shaped the lives around him, and it is in these memories that his legacy lives on.
