Harry Austin Boosey, age 83, passed away peacefully in his home in Jackson, TN with family on 1/25/2026. A respected business leader and dedicated public servant, Harry lived a life devoted to professional achievement, enriching his community and caring for his family.
Born in Little Rock, AR in 1942 to Richard and Gladys Boosey, Harry graduated Catholic High School and then attended, what is now the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Management and Labor in 1967. His career spanned more than three decades in manufacturing and corporate leadership. He held executive roles with Kellwood and Harwood companies before joining Aqua Glass Corporation where he served as Executive Vice President and later President/CEO. Following the company's acquisition by Masco Corporation, Harry became a Group Vice President and played a key role in corporate growth and acquisitions until his retirement in 1996.
Deeply committed to his community, Harry served three terms as Mayor of Adamsville, TN, from 1981 to 1993. In recognition of his leadership, he was named Tennessee Mayor of the Year in 1992 by the Tennessee Municipal League. He also contributed his time and expertise to numerous organizations including the United Way Allocation Committee, the Tennessee Business Roundtable, Jackson State Community College's Advanced Technology Center, and the McNairy County Chamber of Commerce among many others. He also served as Chair of Finance Council, Chair of Building Committee, lector and cantor at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Savannah, TN. In 1984, he and his wife Marty were presented the Marian Award for dedicated service by the Catholic Diocese of Memphis.
Harry received multiple honors over the years including the Distinguished Service award from the state of Tennessee, Citizen of the Year from the Selmer Rotary Club, and national recognition from industry associations for his contributions to manufacturing leadership.
Harry was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 44 years, Margaret Ann Boosey, nee Baldus, who passed away in 2008; his brothers, Richard Boosey and George Boosey; and his sister, Anne Melvin.
He is survived by his daughter Yvette Mueller (Brett); their children Brennen Mueller (Nikki) and their children, Brooke and Elliot, Brice Mueller (Sydney), and Kendall Young (Dan) and their son Graham. He is also survived by his son Shane Boosey (Keri) and their daughters Mia and Ava, and his daughter Tara Wilson (Matthew) and their daughter Kennedy. He is further survived by his brother Fred Boosey and his "soulmate" Melba Homra with whom he spent the last many years of his life.
SERVICE: A time for family and friends to honor Harry's life will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m.at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Jackson, TN, followed by a mass at 1:00 p.m.
