Gene N. Skelley, age 93, died peacefully on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at Bells Nursing and Rehab Center. He was born in Memphis, TN the son of the late Ellis V. and Roberta Wynns Skelley. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the conclusion of WWII. He was a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University with a degree in Agriculture and retired as an Insurance Adjuster with State Auto. He was a long-time member of the former Allen and Edgewood Church, and North Jackson Church of Christ, serving both as a Deacon and Elder for over thirty years. He was a past chairman of the West Tennessee Childrens Home and was a former member of the Jackson Lions Club. He is survived by his loving wife, Beth Skelley of Jackson, TN; sons, Joe Skelley and wife Jana-Lynn of Germantown, TN and Stephen M. Skelley and wife Lynn of Murfreesboro, TN; a daughter, Donna Carden and husband Glynn of Jackson, TN; a sister, Norma Davidson and husband Tommy of Paris, TN; two sisters-in-law, Celia Skelley of Jackson, TN and Barbara Skelley of Paris, TN; seven grandchildren, Tara Burrows and husband Phil, Trevor Skelley and wife Ashley, Brittany Smith and husband Brandon, Ryan Skelley and wife Hannah, Sarah Smith and husband Brian, Blake Carden and wife Jesse and Ben Carden and wife Katie; and four great grandchildren, Jonah Smith, Caroline Carden, Avery Smith and Ward Burrows, as well as Griffin Skelley that is expected in September 2021. Gene was preceded in death by three brothers, Don, Owen, and Robert Skelley. SERVICES: A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 27, 2021, in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors with David Powell, Minister officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Ridgecrest Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday, from 12:00 pm until service time at 2:00 pm. Grandsons and Grandsons-in-law will serve as pallbearers. The family is requesting that memorial contributions be directed to the West Tennessee Childrens Home, P.O.
