Freda June Simmons Ross, 82, of Birmingham, AL went home to be with her Lord on March 23, 2012. Freda was born to Fred and Liddia Simmons of Somerville, TN on February 25, 1930. She graduated in 1948 from Fayette County High School in Somerville and went on to attend Union University in Jackson, Tennessee until her marriage to Billy Tedford Ross on October 2, 1950.Funeral services for Freda will be held Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at 11:00AM at Northside United Methodist Church with Dr. Don Thrasher officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens. Throughout their 61 year marriage, she faithfully served both her family and her God. Over the years she served in several capacities in her church in both Alabama and Tennessee. Her favorite work was in women?s ministries, writing and teaching.Freda Ross is survived by her husband, Billy Tedford Ross, three children, Jaqueline Ross Spencer of Mertztown, PA, Gary Naylor Ross of Chantilly, VA and Nancy Ross Jeffery of Birmingham, AL. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She is further survived by five nieces, other relatives and many friends. In addition, she was preceded in death by her parents Fred Simmons and Liddia McQueen Simmons Crawford Ashford and her sister Tena Morris Putnam.The family has requested in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be directed to in Mrs. Ross?s name to Faith Health Center, 510 Carriage House Drive, Jackson, TN 38305.The family will be receiving friends Tuesday, March 27, 2012 from 10:00AM until the time of the service at 11:00AM at Northside United Methodist Church.Arrington Funeral Directors, 148 W.
