Fred E.
Teague, Jr.
September 11, 1953 – December 10, 2025
On December 10, 2025, Fred Everette "Freddy" Teague, Jr. went home to his heavenly Father after a short illness. Freddy was known as "Big" to his beloved grandchildren Lilly and Everette Teague, and the word describes him perfectly. A big man with a big heart that extended to embrace all he touched—family, friends, employees and strangers—Freddy lived his life with open hands, ever ready to share all he had.
Freddy was born on September 11, 1953, in Jackson, Tennessee, the first son of Fred E. Teague, Sr. and Jonita Smith Teague. He attended Jackson High School, a triple athlete in baseball, football, and track & field and was the Golden Gloves Heavyweight Champion in 1970. After graduating from JCM, he continued his education on football scholarship at Ole Miss. In 1974 he married the love of his life, Sandra Yandell Teague, and they were blessed with two sons, Fred Everette "Trey" Teague III (Ashley) and Nathan Lee Teague. Early in their marriage, Freddy founded Teague Transports and has partnered with his brother David to lead the business for over 45 years with high regard for their loyal employees and valued customers.
Freddy's passions and interests were broad. A champion barbecue Pitmaster and Civil War enthusiast, he had a lifelong love of the outdoors. From deep sea fishing with friends in the Gulf to sauger and crappie fishing on the Tennessee River, Freddy was at home on the water. He was a passionate follower of his children's and grandchildren's sporting careers and a longtime supporter of University School of Jackson, serving on the board.
Freddy Teague was a force of nature with a larger-than-life personality. He will forever be remembered as a man of strong conviction who never met a stranger. He leaves a legacy marked by honesty, loyalty, and generosity.
