Obituary

Evelyn Luckey Gray, 92, died peacefully at her home on Christmas Eve after a lengthy illness. Miss Evelyn, as she was lovingly known by many, was born in Humboldt to Samuel Porter and Gladys Keenan Luckey. She lived her entire life in this community. Evelyn was a member of First Baptist Church of Humboldt. She enjoyed Nancys Nite Lites, Readers Book Club and playing Bridge. She is survived by her son, Joe R. Gray and daughter, Jean Gray Hunderup both of Humboldt, TN; grandchildren, Amy Trowbridge Cotner of Jackson, Anna Trowbridge Abbott and her husband Brian of Caruthersville, MO, Gray Hunderup and Grant Hunderup both of Humboldt; great grandchildren, Karley Hall and Macey Hall of Carruthersville and MacKenzie Cotner of Jackson. Miss Evelyn was cared for by angels, Erika Williams, Ann Hicks, Doris Ferris and Particia Cooper. She was also blessed by Melvie Gentry and Vesta Bryson in the early days of her illness. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, J. Barthel Gray, son-in-law, Ted M. Hunderup and a caretaker, Freda Weatherford. SERVICE: A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Humboldt, with Rev. Daphne Moses and Glenn Miller officiating. Pallbearers will be Ben Stallings, Mike Hawks, Jace Morganti, Phillip Stewart, Gray Hunderup and Grant Hunderup. The family is requesting in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Due Season Womens Resource Center and Shelter, P.O.
