Emily Mitchell Crabtree passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Emily was born on Thursday, October 29, 1942, in Jackson, TN, the daughter of the late Clarence and Janey Mitchell. Approximately forty years of her life were dedicated to the field of education at Malesus Elementary, South Side Jr and Sr High, Pope Elementary, and Jackson Christian School. She had a great love and admiration for the students, faculties, and staff with whom she worked. Emily was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her life was centered on her family and her service to God. She was a member of the North Jackson church of Christ. She is survived by her son, Mark Crabtree and his wife Mona, grandchildren, Lauren Evans and husband Jeremy, Lesley Crabtree, Landon Crabtree, Josh Hertzka and wife Molly, Jaret Hertzka, and Jacob Hertzka and wife Alexandra; great grandchildren, Layne Seaton, John Will Evans, Sunnie Hertzka and Madison Hertzka; her brother, Don Mitchell and wife Nancy and her sister, Sandra Bailey and husband Calvin. She is also survived by a special niece, Rebecca Twyman and husband Dustin and their family Caroline, Tucker and Janey Lynn and nephews, Bryan Bailey and wife Kari and their family Addyson and Ayden and Donnie Mitchell and Greg Mitchell. In addition to her parents, Emily was preceded in death by her loving husband of sixty-one years, Steve, and her daughter Karen Crabtree. SERVICES: A service to celebrate Emilys life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 17, 2025, in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors, with David Looney and Caleb Colley and Dwight Jones of North Jackson church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends to honor and remember Emilys life on Thursday, January 16, 2025, beginning at 4:00 p.m. and continuing until 7:00 p.m. and again on Friday, January 17, 2025, beginning at 12:00 p.m. until service time. The pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews, Josh Hertzka, Jaret Hertzka, Landon Crabtree, Bryan Bailey, Dustin Twyman, Jermey Evans.
