Elizabeth "Liz" Antwine passed away on June 9, 2026, in Jackson, Tennessee, surrounded by loved ones. Born on June 19, 1945, in Dyer, Tennessee, Liz lived a life marked by enduring love, heartfelt dedication, and a genuine connection to those around her. She was a devout Christian and member of Independence church of Christ.
Liz began her professional journey working at Sears until her retirement in 1978. Following her retirement, she embraced the role of a housewife and mother with grace and joy, dedicating herself to caring for her husband, children, and eventually, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her commitment to family was unwavering, and it was this deep devotion that she valued most in life.
Liz stepped into a lifelong partnership with her beloved husband Harry. Their love story was one forged over years of courtship and sealed with 63 years of marriage—a testament to a love that is truly rare and inspiring. They married in June following her high school graduation, embarking together on a journey filled with shared memories and mutual respect.
Liz’s personality shone brightly through her love and warmth toward children. Known affectionately as a "kid magnet," she possessed a remarkable ability to connect with every child she met, leaving a memorable mark on their hearts. Her family fondly recalled how children were drawn to her gentle spirit and affectionate nature.
Her passions extended beyond family. Liz was an avid cook, renowned locally for her culinary talents. She proudly won over 300 ribbons at the MidSouth Fair—an extraordinary achievement highlighting her skill and love for cooking. In addition to her culinary arts, she enjoyed antiquing, filling her home with treasured antiques that reflected her unique taste. Her creative spirit found expression through crafts, painting, and cross-stitching, pursuits that brought her great joy and relaxation over the years.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband, Harry Antwine; daughter, Tonya Nicholas; son, Bryan Antwine; grandchildren, Emily Nicholas; Jeremy Nicholas (Emily); Haley Antwine; Hunter Antwine; Brylan Wilbanks; great-grandchildren, Demetrius, Jameson, Jonathan, Jackson and Christian Nicholas; Sisters, Margaret May and Thelma Patton. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Flossie Davis; brothers Junior, Bob and Tommy Davis.
A funeral service to celebrate Liz's life will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2026, in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors. The burial will follow at Independence Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 11, 2026, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. and again Friday, June 12, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation at themmrf.org.
Pallbearers to serve: Hunter Antwine, Braydan Brown, Rylan Brown, Tommy Davis, Jeremy Nicholas, Chelsey Scobey, Donnie Scobey, and Dwayne Scobey. Fred Grady who preceded her in death is an honorary pallbearer.
