Darla Diane Fesmire

Darla Diane Fesmire (née Smith) was born on February 21, 1963, in Jackson, Tennessee. She passed away peacefully on August 26, 2025, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital at the age of 62. Darla's life was characterized by her profound dedication to both her work and family, as well as her vibrant personality.

In her professional life, Darla made a significant impact in the healthcare field as a home health caregiver. Her compassion and commitment to caring for others were truly remarkable, and she took great pride in being there for those in need. Her passion extended beyond her career; she cherished the time spent with her children and grandchildren, who were her proudest accomplishments.

Darla was known for her straightforward nature, and her friends and family appreciated her honesty, as they never had to wonder how she felt. Outside of work and family, she found joy in various pastimes, including swimming, indulging in word games, and reading. A particular highlight of her leisure time was her love for WWE Wrestling. She also had a well-known fondness for good burgers, always ready to enjoy a meal with family and friends.

She leaves behind her children, Megan Fesmire and B.J. Bright, and her beloved grandchildren, Collin Bright, Aubree Bright, Haylee Bright, Avery Bright, and Evelyn Fesmire, affectionately known as "Nana's Special Girl." Darla is survived by her siblings Pat, Katie, Sherry, Ricky, Karen, Elizabeth, and Max, who will all hold her memory close to their hearts.

Darla was predeceased by her granddaughter Madisson Bright and her parents Wayne and Diane Burruss Smith. She is also preceded in death by her grandparents who raised her, Brice and Louise Burruss.

A visitation with family and friends for Darla will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, beginning at 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM at Oakfield Baptist Church, with Rev. Mickey Jackson officiating. Burial will follow the service at Beech Bluff Cemetery.
