Danny Edward Maness, age 69, of Medina, Tennessee, passed away on July 9, 2026, in Jackson, Madison County, Tennessee. Dan was born on June 20, 1957, in Crestview, Okaloosa County, Florida, to Joe Neal Maness and Annie Jewell Morris Maness, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, William David Maness and Randy Lee Maness.
A 1975 graduate of Jackson Central-Merry High School, Dan continued his education at Jackson State Community College and Cumberland University.
Following high school, Danny answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps Reserve in 1975 for a six-year commitment. He completed recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot in Parris Island, South Carolina, serving with Platoon 2021, Delta Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, from November 4, 1975, through January 28, 1976. He later attended training at Naval Air Station in Millington, Tennessee, and also served in the Tennessee National Guard.
Dan devoted much of his career to the food manufacturing industry. He began his career with The Quaker Oats Company. He later joined Save-A-Lot, where he continued working until he moved to Ryder and then his retirement on June 1, 2022.
Dan is survived by his wife, Donna E. Maness; his children, Alan Maness (Tim Dyer), Julie Wiseman (Christine), and Brad Maness (Tanya); his cherished grandchildren, Tessa Blair Maness, Avaleigh Grace Alexandra Wiseman, and Declan Jax Gilchrist Wiseman; his nephew, Michael Maness; his stepchildren, Brandon Graves; Drew Helton (Kenny) and Derrick Clark (Mindy); his step-grandchildren, Elyza Maria, and Derrick Allen; and many beloved cousins from the Maness and Morris families, with whom he shared lifelong friendships and special family bonds.
Dan will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his honorable military service, and his strong work ethic throughout his career. He especially valued time spent with family, whether at gatherings, traveling with Donna, or enjoying the company of his many cousins. His loyalty, kindness, quiet strength, and generous spirit will be remembered by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service to celebrate Dan's life will be held 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2026, in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
