“There is a grief that cannot be spoken and a pain that goes on and on and can only be held by God who now holds our son”. It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our cherished and adored son Colin Benjamin Carothers. Colin age 32 died in Christ on Saturday September 15, 2025.

Colin Benjamin Carothers fervently prayed for and eagerly anticipated was born on August 10, 1993, in Jackson, Madison County, Tennessee. Colin was a gift from the Lord to his parents Charles Robert “Chuck” Carothers and Leni Suzanne Lumbley Carothers. Colin’s birth was excitedly welcomed by his big brother Tyler Christopher Carothers. Tyler and Colin formed a deeply affectionate, unbreakable bond as brothers and best friends. They simply became the “boys” to cousins and other family members. Colin was born and grew up in a household of faith. He inherited a large connected and deeply loving multi-generational extended family residing in Tennessee, Arkansas, and Texas. Hometowns became buzz words for gatherings, cousins and family. Destin, Pickwick, Mountain View are just a few treasured spots where memories were made that lasted a lifetime. The family legacy of love and prayer surrounded Colin throughout his 32 years on earth.

Colin gave his heart and life to Christ as Savior and Lord. He followed the Lord in the waters of baptism. Colin was faithfully taught God’s word throughout his life by countless adult workers in Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Awana’s, Student Ministries and Bible Studies. His life was impacted by many, many men and women of faith in churches where his family worshiped. Colin continued in his spiritual growth and walk with Christ throughout his life. In one of the last conversations, he reflected on the goodness and faithfulness of God in his life, the power of Christ as we trust him and the hope of heaven. He ended the conversation with a beautiful prayer of thanksgiving to God. As a family we do not grieve as those without hope. We know our precious son’s faith has become sight and he is forever with the Lord.

Colin was educated in Jackson, Tennessee and Beaumont, Texas. Upon graduation from Nederland High School in Nederland, Texas Colin entered Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas where he completed his Radiology Technology Degree. Colin worked as the Lead OR Radiology Technologist at North Central Baptist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. As a healthcare professional Colin excelled in providing kind, compassionate, loving care to patients of all ages. He developed a love for medicine and enjoyed long conversations discussing disease states and clinical scenarios.

Colin was a gifted, agile athlete. Whether in sport or his favorite pass time skateboarding he demonstrated impressive skill. Colin was a talented golfer, hunter and passionate fisherman. He equally enjoyed salt water and freshwater angling, trawling spending happy hours pursuing the catch. Colin enjoyed the glory of the out of doors. He particularly relished the splendor of the Texas hill country. As an extrovert Colin found the company of his friends and colleagues a joy. He cherished the dear friends he had collected throughout his life. Each of you know who you are and the invaluable place you held in Colin’s life whether as personal friends or work colleagues.

Colin will be forever cherished by his Dad/Pops, Charles Robert “Chuck” Carothers & James Edgar “Mr. Jim” Hicks III of Jackson, Tn., Mom, Leni Suzanne Bourque Kerrville, Texas and his devoted brother Tyler Christopher Carothers, Huntsville, Alabama. Stepsister Tamara “Tangee” Griffin and Stepbrother Tanner Bourque, Beaumont, Tx. Paternal Grandmother Janie “Mimi” Carothers Hickman Jackson, Tn. Maternal Grandmother Betty “Oma” Lumbley Beaumont, Tx. Uncles and Aunts Chris and Pam Carothers Jackson TN, Frank and Celia Jordan Jackson, John and Shari Griffin Beaumont Tx, Delouise Lumbley, Katy, Tx. Cousins Lily Carothers, New York, NY, Patton Carothers, Jackson, Tn, Rachel Jordan, Nashville, Tn. Shelby Harper, Salt Lake City, Utah, Justin Griffin Richardson, Tx and Holyn Frank, Tehachapi, CA. Johnathan Lumbley, Los Angeles, CA. and Kristi Archer, Katy Tx.

Colin was predeceased by his canine terrier “Boo” whom he called his younger brother. Maternal Grandfather: James Lowell “Crump” Carothers and Step Grandfather: Robert Harold “Gran Pete” Hickman. Maternal Grandfather: John H. “Opa” Lumbley, Stepfather: Robert “Bobby” Bourque. Uncle: John Dale Lumbley.

A Christian Service of Worship and Thanksgiving will be held to celebrate the beautiful life of Colin Benjamin Carothers on Tuesday November 4, 2025, at First United Methodist Church 200 S Church Street, Jackson Tn. Visitation with family will be held from 9:00am until service time at 10:00am at the church. The service will be officiated by the Rev. Andrew Sherman, Pastor St Gregory’s Episcopal Church Boca Raton, Florida and Rev. Travis Penney, Pastor First United Methodist Church Jackson, Tennessee. Music and Worship will be led by Steve Potts, Choral Director and Pianist First Baptist Church, Indianapolis Indiana and Tim Brumfield, Choral Director and Organist St. Gregory Episcopal Church Boca Raton, Florida.

Pallbearers will be Chris Carothers, Dr. Frank Jordan, Frank Jordan, Jr., Patton Carothers, John S. Hicks, and Jack Hicks.

The Christian Rite of Burial and Committal will follow at Mount Zion Church Cemetery Mount Zion Road Medina, TN in the Carothers Family Burial Plot.

In lieu of flowers the family requests random acts of kindness to those in need or contribute to a ministry, church or charity of your selection in Colin’s memory.
