Obituary

Claudia Thomas Brewer, 94, of Jackson, TN passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at Medina Christian Care in Medina, TN.

Claudia was born November 11, 1931, to Guy Vernon Thomas and Audrey Upton Thomas. She attended North Side High School, graduating in 1949, and Union University, graduating in 1968. She taught kindergarten at Pope Elementary for over 25 years. She married Douglas Brewer in 1956 and served faithfully as a pastor's wife for over 50 years.

She was a member of Poplar Heights Baptist Church from 1966 until her passing. She had many roles there including teaching Sunday School and later serving in the Little Lambs Mother's Morning Out program.

Claudia lived her life as a model for all of us, with strength, devotion, and love of God and family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Douglas Brewer, and three brothers, Charles Thomas, Bill Thomas, and Archie Thomas. She is survived by one brother, Ralph Thomas, and several nieces and nephews.

She is survived by two sons, Tim Brewer (Laurie) and Phil Brewer (Kim), four grandchildren, Julie Dawson (Bran), Will Brewer (Victoria), Joseph Brewer (Lauren), and Jared Brewer, and five great grandchildren, Emery Dawson, Anna West Dawson, Betsy Brewer, Lydia Brewer, and James Brewer.

Claudia lived the last several years of her life at Bells Retirement Village and Assisted Living. The family would like to thank Mia Diamond and her staff for all they have done to make her "home away from home" a comfortable and safe place.

SERVICES: A time with family and friends honoring Claudia's life will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 22, 2026, in the Chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Larry Murphy officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Wayne Rushing, Joseph Brewer, Will Brewer, Bran Dawson, Bill Forsythe, and Larry Murphy.

Memorials can be made to Gideons International or to a charity of one's choice.

She wrote in one of her many bibles "I believe this is for me" and underlined the verse, Isaiah 41:10 – "so do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
