Charles Thomas Bell, age 90, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2026, in Jackson, TN. Born on February 12, 1935 in Beech Bluff, TN to Bessie Fern (Johnson) and W.D. Bell. He earned BA, BE Chemical Engineering and an MBA from Lambuth College 1957, Vanderbilt University 1961, and Georgia Southern University 1979. He also served over nine years in the National Guard. Charles was a faithful member of Woodland Baptist Church in Jackson and previously worshipped at Isle of Hope Baptist Church in Savannah, GA. His commitment to his community and charitable causes was evident throughout his life.
He is survived by his beloved wife of more than 69 years, Nan (Sykes) Bell; three children: Cynthia (Bell) Tatman (Scott) of Hannibal, MO; Jeffrey Bell (Crystal) of Eagle Mountain, UT; and Lori (Bell) Protsman (Clinton) of Savannah, GA. He was a devoted grandfather to Shelby (Tatman) Graham (Nat), Ryan Tatman (Allison), Taylor (Tatman) McGovern (Justin), Kaitlyn (Bell) Hoyt (Travis), Rebecca Bell, Joshua Bell, Zachary Bell, Joey Protsman (Ashley), and Bryan Protsman (Andrea). He also leaves behind 13 great-grandchildren. Charles is also remembered by his niece Deborah (Sykes) Turpin as well as his nephew Andy Bell and niece Alicia (Bell) Warbritton. He was preceded in death by his parents, W.D. Bell and Bessie Fern (Johnson) Bell, and his brother David Bell.
SERVICE: A memorial visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2026, in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors, memorial service to follow at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Shriners Children's Hospital or Woodland Baptist Church.
Charles's legacy lives on through the many lives he touched. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
