Brodie M. Morgan died peacefully on Monday, June 22, 2026 at his Jackson residence, at the age of 83.
He was born on February 11, 1943, the son of the late Manson and Doris Wilson Morgan.
Brodie is a 1961 graduate of Northside high school and a 1965 alum of Lambuth College with a degree in business administration, where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity.
Brodie began his naval career at NAS Jacksonville in September 1965. He continued to serve at NSA mid-south – Millington until 1992 with squadrons VR 53 and VR 60. He was discharged in 1992 as a naval chief petty officer.
After a long tenure as a commercial and industrial specialist, he retired from TVA and Gibson Electric. He was wed to his wife Paula in 1967, and they accumulated 58 years of faithful marriage. He was a member of the Englewood Baptist Church. He participated in the primetime activities and operation Christmas child programs. Brodie was a member of the Tennessee athletic fund and had season tickets for many years. Brodie loved animals. He loved caring for a dog or a cat. He enjoyed attending football games with his daughter Karen. Brodie had season tickets to the Talladega racetrack since 1969. He spent many years with friends and his daughter, attending the July NASCAR Daytona, firecracker 400 race annually and would enjoy a side trip to Kennedy Space Center to see space shuttle and rocket launches. He loved going to Air shows to see the Blue Angels. Each morning Brodie could be found with Latham’s coffee group where he enjoyed the best part of his day with camaraderie and genuine friendship. Brodie paid for in full his grandson’s education at Northpoint Christian School. Most of all, Brodie loved to see the world. He loved to take his wife, his daughter, and his grandson Morgan on road trips. He loved to look at the mountains, go to the beach, and visit Branson, as well as attending a good flea market here and there. He loved reading and cracking a good joke! Family to Brodie was like air. He couldn’t live without it.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Paula McLeary Morgan, his daughter, Karen Morgan Scott and husband Clay of Olive Branch, MS; his grandson, Morgan Scott of Olive Branch, MS; his double first cousin, Jenny Morgan Deloach and numerous nieces and nephews.
A time with family and friends to honor Brodie’s life will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and on Monday, June 28, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors with Mr. Tom Mapes officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Cemetery.
