Bobby Browning

Bobby Ray Browning, 86, of Jackson, Tennessee, entered his eternal rest on Friday, October 17, 2025. Born and raised in Milan, TN, to Malcom M. and Myrtle M. Browning, Bobby graduated from Milan High School (1957) and then Memphis State University (1961).

Upon graduation he went to work at the Milan Army Ammunition Plant for 35 years: first, in the engineering department and then working his way to serve as the Plant Manager and Vice President of Lockheed Martin Ordnance Department. After leaving Lockheed Martin he served as the City Engineer of Jackson, Tennessee under two mayoral administrations for a total of 9 years.

He was a member of the Milan Rotary Club, a licensed land surveyor, licensed professional engineer, and a member of the West Tennessee Society of Professional Engineers and served as its president in 1975. He served on the Board of Directors for the Milan Banking Company, the Board of Directors of BlueCross and BlueShield of Tennessee, Advisory Board Member of Volunteer Bank of Milan Tennessee, and was a faithful member of Northside Church of Jackson in Jackson, Tennessee.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Linda O. Browning; his children Patricia L. Browning of Arlington, Tennessee and Robert O. Browning (daughter-in-law Natalie) of Olive Branch, Mississippi; two grandchildren Richard (Ric) T. Browning and Margaret Ann Browning; and his sister Joyce B. Robinson.
