Betty Jo Mccoy (Scobey)
Naylor
May 23, 1940 – April 16, 2026
Betty Jo McCoy (Scobey) Naylor, age 85, of Jackson, Tennessee, passed away on April 16, 2026, in the same city where she was born on May 23, 1940. She lived a life marked by devotion, kindness, and steady care for the people she loved.
Betty Jo spent thirty years working at Western Mental Health, where she served in admissions. Through her years of service, she became a familiar and trusted face to many. Her work reflected the same compassion and patience that guided her throughout her life. She approached her responsibilities with sincerity and grace, and she was respected for the care she showed to others in both her professional and personal life.
Above all else, Betty Jo's family was her life. She devoted herself to raising children throughout her entire life, and that nurturing spirit extended to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well. She found joy in being present for her family and in helping guide and support each generation. Her home and her heart were always open, and she gave of herself freely to those who needed her.
Betty Jo was also a devoted caregiver to her late husband, Paul, during his final years. She stood by him with unwavering love and tenderness, offering comfort, patience, and strength when it was needed most. Her ability to care for others was one of her greatest gifts, and it was evident in the way she lived each day. She was always a great caretaker, and that role came naturally to her because it was rooted in her generous spirit.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Teresa Landreth (Mike) and Lisa Moore (Cameron); son, Jimmy Scobey; granddaughters, whom she adopted along with Paul, Sharon Davis (Toby), Shelby Davis (Matt), and Lindsey Jordan (Hunter); grandchildren, Adam, Cody, Brittney, and Brianna; eleven great-grandchildren and one on the way; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Scobey; second husband, Paul Naylor; son, Johnny Scobey; parents, Clarence and Pauline McCoy; brothers, Eugene McCoy, William McCoy, and Wayne McCoy; sister, Mary Ann Benge; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service to honor her life will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2026, in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors, with Dr. Todd Brady officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
Those who knew Betty Jo will remember her for her loving nature and thoughtful ways. Her legacy lives on in the family she raised, the lives she touched, and the example she set through her faithful care and devotion. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who were blessed to know her.
