Bernice Louise Whisel, age 88 of Cordova, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 22, 2026. She was born on April 1, 1937, in Myersdale, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Samuel W. Bittner and Mabel B. Bittner. Bernice was the widow of William L. Whisel. She was a member of Northside United Methodist Church in Jackson, Tennessee, before moving to Cordova, Tennessee, in 2016.

Mrs. Whisel is survived by four children, Brenda Lee Casey and her husband David of Jackson, Tennessee; Karen Lynn Smith and her husband Joey of Bartlett, Tennessee; David Wesley Whisel and his wife Tonoa of Springdale, Arkansas; and William Douglas Whisel and his wife Jackie of Melbourne, Florida; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held only for the family on Friday, January 30, at Arrington Funeral Home in Jackson, Tennessee. Burial will follow at the Highland Memorial Gardens with her son, David Whisel, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in honor of Bernice to the Shriners Hospital or St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis.
