Barbara Coble, a beacon of love and generosity, passed away on December 5, 2025, in Jackson, Tennessee, at the age of 84. Born on January 31, 1941, in Milan, Tennessee, Barbara's zest for life and her passion for her family were the hallmarks of her remarkable journey.
Barbara's interests reflected her loving nature. As a mother and a sister, she poured her heart into nurturing her family, always making sure that they were cared for and loved. Her grandchildren were a source of immense joy, and she dedicated herself to supporting and celebrating every milestone in their lives.
Those who were fortunate enough to sit at Barbara's table knew of her passion for cooking. Each meal she prepared was a testament to her belief in the power of food to bring people together, creating moments of joy and togetherness that her family will forever hold dear.
Barbara's giving spirit extended beyond her family. As a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, she found great fulfillment in the camaraderie and the shared commitment to charitable works. Her contributions to the community were marked by the same love and generosity that she bestowed upon her family.
To speak of Barbara is to speak of love, passion, and generosity. These words best capture the essence of a woman who gave so much of herself to others. Her spirit, characterized by these virtues, shone brightly and touched the lives of all who knew her.
Barbara's legacy is cherished by her devoted daughter, Tonya Jones, who was the apple of her eye, sons Tim Swafford and wife April and Dennis Swafford. She was the beloved sister to James "Jimmy" Charles Miller and his wife Mae, Jerri Acree and her husband Richard, and Dorothy Weatherly and her husband Jody. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Deagan Jones, Levin Jones, Jenney Bryant, Christy Swafford Whallin, Shayne Swafford and Hunter Kimery and eight great grandchildren. Each family member was touched by her unwavering support and her ability to make every gathering memorable with her warm presence and delicious cooking.
She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-six years, Harris W. Coble.
SERVICES: A time with family and friends to remember Barbara's life will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors. A graveside service will take place on Friday, December 12, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at the West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery at Parkers Crossroads.
