Ardis Wyatt Long, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away on October 10, 2025, in her hometown of Jackson, Tennessee, at the age of 74. Born on May 4, 1951, in Jackson, she was a lifelong resident who carried the spirit of her community with her throughout her life.
She graduated from Jackson High in 1969, laying the foundation for a life that would be filled with love for her family, friends, and the places she cherished. She was an active member of her community and was baptized at First United Methodist Church in Jackson, TN, reflecting her strong ties to her faith and local roots.
A proud mother to two children, Abby and Grant, Ardis found her greatest joy in her role as a grandmother. Her grandson, Wyatt, whom she affectionately referred to as her angel, held a special place in her heart. The love she showed for her family was unwavering and stood as her proudest accomplishment.
Ardis loved to travel, often claiming that her favorite place in the world was Longboat Key, Florida. In her leisure time, she found solace in reading, particularly by the beach or wherever she could enjoy the soothing sounds of water. Her enthusiasm also extended to college football, passionately supporting her two favorite teams: the University of Alabama, which held a special significance due to Abby's alma mater, and the University of Tennessee Vols, whose cheers she joined to keep Grant's spirits high.
Left to cherish her memory is her son, Grant and his wife, Kristy Long; grandson, Wyatt Long; siblings, Vivian Pauley (Kevin), Warren Wyatt (Leanne), Reba Anderson (Kenny), and Beth Powell (Ray); several nieces and nephews and her several close and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Abby Long; and parents, Houston and Margaret Wyatt.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held Friday, October 17, 2025, from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Arrington Funeral Directors.
