Ann Sorensen
Howell
February 13, 1936 – February 23, 2026
Ann Sorensen Howell was welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Savior on February 23, 2026, at the age of 90. Born on February 13, 1936, she was a beacon of love and faith in her community, remembered for her unwavering kindness and generosity.
Ann was a proud alumna of Jackson High School and carried the discipline and knowledge acquired into her further studies at West TN Business College. Her educational journey led to a fulfilling career, having served diligently as a clerk administrator for the FBI, the Illinois Central Railroad, and the University of IL Veterinary Clinic. Ann's professional life was marked by excellence and commitment, which also reflected in her active association involvement.
As a devout Christian, Ann was a cherished member of the Temple Baptist Church, living her faith through acts of service—from volunteering at her church's nursery to becoming a prayer warrior for family and friends.
Ann's talents were plenty; she was an amazing seamstress, often using her skills to the delight of those who knew her. Her engagement with the youth as a part of Cub Scouts and Brownies showed her dedication to guiding the younger generation with care and wisdom. Ann's nurturing spirit was further showcased through her love for cooking and coffee, a pleasure she happily shared with others during fellowship.
A voracious reader, Ann's passion for knowledge was so profound that her mastery of trivia led her to audition for the game show Jeopardy. Her intellect and curiosity were matched only by her loving nature, which she imparted in every aspect of her life.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of over 70 years, Homer Carl Howell; devoted children, Jesse Carl Howell and Lisa K. Howell Sharpe (Timothy), foster parents of Ashton; and grandchildren, Dustin Carl Howell and Joselyn Danae Howell. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Mathilda Sorensen; siblings, Charles M. Smith (Jan) and Mary Elizabeth Groves (James).
A funeral to celebrate Ann's life will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2026, in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service. The burial will follow at Ridgecrest Cemetery.
Ann Sorenson Howell was a treasure to all who knew her, and her memory will be cherished forever in the hearts she touched. May she rest in peace as her soul finds eternal rest in the presence of our Heavenly Father.
