Alice L. Firestine, a cherished soul, born on November 28, 1941, in Medina, TN, the daughter of the late Carlie and Vera Haley Watson concluded her earthly journey on March 17, 2026, in Jackson, TN. Her life was a tapestry of love, faith, and joy that she generously shared with everyone around her. Alice's presence was a beacon of light that will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
From her early years in Medina to her final days in Jackson, Alice's life was marked by an unwavering devotion to her family, her church, and her community. She was a proud member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and enjoyed singing in the choir. Her spirituality was rooted in a compassionate life of serving the Lord, a commitment that began with her baptism in the Forked Deer River and continued until her last breath. Alice also gave of her time and volunteered for twenty years at Jackson General Hospital as a Grey Lady.
Alice's family was the cornerstone of her existence. She was a loving mother to her daughter, Pam Sanders, and supportive mother-in-law to her husband, Robert, both of Jackson, TN. Her role as grandmother to April Pieniazek (Erik) and Beth Ann Ridings (Dexter) was one she held with great pride and tenderness. The joy of her life multiplied with the arrival of her great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Luke Pieniazek and Meredith and Cameron Ridings, whom she adored beyond measure. The legacy she leaves behind in her family is one of love, laughter, and the importance of cherishing every moment together.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Richard H. Firestine in 2023 and a sister Jane Tyler in 2024.
An enthusiastic sports fan of all kinds, Alice's passion for basketball was infectious. Alice's zest for life extended to her many hobbies and simple pleasures. She enjoyed working "Find A Word" Puzzles.
Alice's days were often punctuated with visits to Starbucks for coffee and she always enjoyed a good Dr. Pepper. Her love for music, particularly from the seventies and gospel genres, was a source of comfort and inspiration.
The family beach vacations Alice so dearly loved provided a backdrop for countless cherished memories. The sand, the surf, and the shared laughter were the ingredients for the perfect getaway, and these moments became the stories that she would recount with sparkling eyes and a warm heart.
SERVICES: A time for family and friends will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors with a funeral service to follow at 3:00 p.m. with Dr. Jerry Welch officiating. Burial will follow at Hopewell Cemetery in Medina.
The family is requesting that memorial contributions to be directed to St. Jude children's Research Hospital, 105 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or online at www.stjude.org.
Alice L. Firestine lived a full and beautiful life, marked by her unwavering faith, her undying love for her family, and her ability to find joy in the everyday.
