A.B. Lott

A.B. Lott departed this life peacefully February 29, 2024, in Jackson, TN at the age of 99.  Born on September 8, 1924, in McNairy County, TN, the fifth of seven sons to Albert and Emily Deaton Lott.  

He was a WWII Veteran and served in the Pacific Theatre, was a prisoner of war.  After being liberated there, he was a part of the first U.S. troops to enter Japan after the end of the war.

Returning home, he worked at Brown Shoe Company in Selmer for a short time. Then, he started hauling livestock for local stock farms.  Later on, he worked for the Jackson Packing Company.

September 12, 1953, A.B. married Emogene Harris.  He and Emogene owned and operated Lott Trucking Company, hauling whatever and working very long hours.  After selling the trucking company, he worked for the Madison County Co-Op.

A.B. and Emogene enjoyed raising cows, cutting horses and Belgian mares, which he raised colts. They were often seen in the neighborhood with a team of horses or mules, pulling them in his antique wagon.  Everything had to be authentic!

He is survived by his wife of 70+ years and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Claude, Roy, Robert “Jack”, Willard, Jamey, and Joe.

A graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at Highland Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers to serve include Tommy Doyle, Gary Harris, Edward Lott, Jerry Lott, Josh Lott, and Wayne Lott.
